I like the fries sometimes.
I also like the chicken but one time I got the chicken fingers confused with the fish fingers.
Uhh idk what else to say but yelp isn't let me post this as a review so therefore I'm writing more so that I can post this as a review instead of a tip cause this review should be heard by anyone wanting to come to this restaurant because it should be.

This authentic Dominican-style food restaurant is conveniently located close to home. I've eaten in and out, and have also done takeout. The food is always fresh and made-to-order, with liberal portions.
Contrary to urban or street versions of its translation, "pollo el cojido" literally translates to: the caught or grabbed chick, as in the offspring of the hen, but this is not a grammar lesson.
This Caribbean restaurant is divey-looking, but you ought not to judge it by appearance. I beg you to try it! The friendly, relatable owner is usually on the premises, aiming to please. Their servers are humble and more than courteous--they are kind. It's the type of place that I would forego dining at late on Friday and Saturdays, unless I wanted to party! They play salsa, bachata and merengue, with no room to dance, but you can still enjoy the fun atmosphere with tons of great food and drink options!
My recent experience was take out mofongo (a Puerto Rican-Dominican dish consisting of fried green plantain mashed with salt, garlic, and oil in a pilón, or mortar & pestle). The homemade specialty sauce is tasty and not overpowering! Some of the other things we've tried are the chicharrones de pollo (chicken rinds) which aren't just skin--they're really meaty--their sancocho, mangu, and pargo (Red Snapper) which is my favorite fish, and I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was.
The best part of eating from this place is that even the fried foods are somewhat wholesome. Their plantains, for example, are made not from a frozen bag, but from the actual plantain. The same goes for everything else. -

Loved it soon as I walked in. Food smelled amazing & tasted even better. I will definitely go back Reasonably priced & great portions. They have cubetazos too!! Feels like a little bit of Corona but in Tamarac.

Portions are massive and pricing is very reasonable. Service was slow during lunch particularly because only two staff members were attending the lunch rush patrons. The mofongo was good but it lacked seasoning.
The menu is very extensive and there are a lot of different meals to choose from. The portions are very generous especially for the price. However, the flavor of my meal was a bit underwhelming. I would definitely re-visit to try other menu items though. -

Best Dominican place in Tamarac for sure! I'm in love with the mofongo. My third time heard and it's all I order. Everything is made fresh and it shows! Huge portions make it a great value, even if it's a little on the pricey side. Worth every penny.
